Skeletal Reconstruction

Skeletal reconstruction is the term used to describe re-assembly of bones (and fragments of bones), to create a full or partial skeleton from fossil remains. It ranges from piecing together a single bone from hundreds of crumbled fragments to the assembly of a complete animal skeletons. Although the DVS name suggests fossil reconstruction, we also do articulation of “modern” skeletons from small rodents, to full-size whale skeletons. No reconstruction task is too large or too small.

Skeletal reconstruction and articulation services include:

  • Permanent internal mounting

  • Removable “research-ready” mounting

  • Bone consolidation

  • Recreation of missing elements

  • Pedestal or ceiling mounting

  • Carcass flensing and maceration services
